5-minute Chocolate Cupcake

Bless that lazy, hungry soul who came up with this recipe for the chocolate cupcake made in 5 minutes. It’s literally made in a cup and takes 5 minutes. Who said you can’t think on any empty stomach!

All you need is….

5 tbsp cake flour
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbspn cocoa
1 egg
3 tbsp milk
3 tbsp oil/ghee
1 mug

This is how it’s done…

1. Add the flour, sugar and cocoa to the mug.

2. Add in an egg and stir

3. Until it looks like this. (Resist the temptation to lick off the batter. Resist.)

4. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

5. Place it in the microwave for 3 minutes on high power

6. Until the cake rises and sets in the mug.

Dig in

7. Make sure you wear some oven mits when u reach for the mug. Tip out the contents in a bowl/quarter plate.

Enjoy your 5 minute choco cupcake with coffee (which is in a separate mug of course)

Now I don’t usually like microwave cooking/baking.  I think that technique kills the nutrient value in food.  But this recipe which came to me in an email was too bizarre not to try out. Its USP is that it’s non-fussy, non-messy, QUICK and easy. It tastes quite all right but obviously, muffins made out of love and baked in an oven take the cake. Any day.

Perhaps one can try adding walnuts or grated coconut for crunch and texture?
